Born in the island of Chios, Greece, Eirini was studying Architecture at Thessaloniki, when she traveled to Paris, as an Erasmus exchange student, to discover why filmmaking is a “raison d’être and to direct her first mini-short film Vis-à-Vis. Eirini kept working as an architect, but was increasingly drawn into the more extensive communicative potential of film over architecture. Earning a Fulbright and Greek State scholarship, she enrolled in San Francisco State University, pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Cinema. Her student film Safety Net was selected to screen in a number of festivals in the US and abroad, being awarded Best Directing Award from Life n’Art Film Festival, Best Short Film from Snohomish Carnegie Film Festival, Honorable Mention from Rochester Film Festival and earning Eirini a Murphy and Cadogan Fellowship for Emerging Artists from the San Francisco Foundation. Eirini currently lives and works as a director in Athens.
