Overview: We are looking for a mechanical (ideally electro-mechanical) engineer that would engage in a series of projects to develop a system for feeding plastic pellets from several bins/hoppers in a pre-determined order into a placement mechanism deploying those pellets at a relatively high rate of speed (approximately 1600 pellets/min). Current Project(#1): To design a feeder of plastic pellets (2-3mm in diameter) enabling a continuous flow of the pellets one by one from a bin/hopper. A proposed design would be an auger-based feeder with a shaft powered by a [stepper] motor. However, we will be happy to consider alternative/more effective solutions. The final (parametric) model needs to be delivered in SolidWorks or compatible format. Proposed solution(s) should be suitable for prototyping techniques using 3D printers and CNC machinery.

Dear Sir, Well, 1600 pellets/min is pretty fast. I am comparing to grain seeding in a machine. There are some alternatives to explore: vacuum picking in a wheel, a file of pellets into a channel, etc. I propose to send some preliminary designs in one week and, after an agreement on suitable method, the final design for a prototype manufacturing.

I am a machine designer, I have designed screw feeders in the past for Michelin to feed rubber pellets, powders and liquid base slurries. My min hourly rate is $25.00/hr and I have estimated at least 40 hours of work for the complete design. If the job takes less hours I will only charge the $25.00/hr.
