Have to do a simulation in V-REP for a closed chain planar manipulator. You have to do the inverse and forward kinematics and dynamics. The coding can be done in MATLAB. you can consider planar closed-chain manipulators. The next steps would be writing the D-H based forward and inverse kinematics of the manipulator (if you go with the planar closed-chain manipulator, you can use three revolute joints per chain and define two as passive and one as actuated) and building a simulator for the manipulator (which could be in v-rep or in Matlab). One way to verify your kinematics equations would be to write the kinematics equations as functions in Matlab, then send commands to the robot simulation to set some joint configurations, and check if the resulting end-effector position and orientation correspond to what you get in Matlab, etc. After that, you would use the inverse kinematics to send commands to the robot simulation to do some sequence of motions (e.g., moving the end-effector along a trajectory). Then, you could move on to some dynamics analysis of the robot and possibly a simulation of the robot interacting with some object in the environment (e.g., placing a tool on the end-effector and interacting with an object) depending on the time left. Dear Colleague, My name is Dr. Rayomand Vatcha and I did my PhD from University of North Carolina at Charlotte with research focus on Motion planning of high DOF robots in Completely unknown and unpredictable environment. I have published 3 Workshop papers, 5 conference papers in IEEE and 1 journal paper in Springer's Autonomous Robots. I had experience working in V-rep where I had to tutor students in building a Stuart platform. I also need to tutor them on how to interfacing V-rep with C++ code to control the motions of the robot in simulator. In the forum of v-rep, they already have an example of the closed chain planar manipulators with total 4 joints able to move left an right about a fixed vertical base. Since I dont have matlab on my PC I cant work on Matlab and have provided C++ as alternative. Let me know if this fits your needs. -Rayomand
