LINK RESEARCH PROJECT THE TASK Gather a list of 50 different Dental websites that openly accept guest authors or have accepted guest authors in the past. The blogs must be Dental related websites and the language on the website must be English. The Dental website need to be based in the USA and CANADA and audience must be English speakers. Also, the blogs must have a minimum PageRank of 2. If the blog has not had articles posted on it within the last 2 months then please ignore it. Also, try to look for blogs that have comments from their readers on their articles as well as ones that have been shared a lot on social media websites. As well as gathering a list of the websites, the contact details for each of the websites must be provided. This includes a contact name (this could be the blog owner or regular blogger, etc.), a contact email address, the URL of the contact form on the website (e.g. [login to view URL]) and the twitter handle/Facebook page URL for the contact & blog. HOW TO GO ABOUT THE TASK Make sure that all information gathered is inputted into an Excel sheet in the given format. FINDING THE BLOGS You can use some advanced search operators within Google that will help you identify some potential targets. Once you have this, place it within the spreadsheet and if the website is lower than 2, don’t include it. FINDING THE CONTACT DETAILS OF THE BLOG The first step is finding a contact name for the website. This is usually on the ‘about us’ page of the website or can be found by looking at who is regularly writing the blogs. Once you have this, Google their name followed by ‘Twitter’ (e.g. John Philips twitter) to get their Twitter handle. Find the Facebook URL for the blog, not the individual, for example, don’t get the contact name’s personal profile, get the Facebook page URL for the actual blog (e.g. [login to view URL] dentists). If they don’t have one then make sure you specify this in the spreadsheet. The most important part is finding the contact email address. This can be sometimes found in the footer of the website, the about us page, the contact us page or somewhere within one of the blog posts. If you find it a bit harder to find, which will sometimes be the case, you can use some of these techniques: Use [login to view URL] to give you some clever searches that can sometimes find pages that contain the email address of the contact on their website.
