iOS Game — SMS Dating Simulator

This is an iOS iPhone/iPod project built using the Unity ([url removed, login to view]) technology (Pro iOS), and is written in the C# programming language. It is 100% 2D (no 3D files used), and it makes use of the NGUI user interface library ([url removed, login to view]). This game was built during an internal game jam and already has an existing codebase with the core mechanics implemented. We're looking for a C# engineer w/ Unity Pro that can implement additional functionality.

## Deliverables

The game operates around the premise of a Timeline. That Timeline is a collection of Events, which are tagged with game Timestamps for when that event occurs. There a then defined constants which control at what rate does the program progress through the Timeline in correlation to the passage of real time. Events are in the form of SMS-like messages that appear on the screen, representing a text from the virtual character the player is dating. The player can handle the incoming text in 4 ways: offer a Gift, offer a Date, go do some Work, a neutral response, or no response (the virtual character texted the player, but the player did not respond in enough time). The score of the player is represented by a number between 0 and 100 which represents the progress in the relationship. The game is set to be over in 72 days of game-world time, and the amount of real world time it takes to complete 72 days of game world depends on what constant values you use.

We're looking for a capable, creative, and talented engineer who implement the following additional tasks:

Core Tasks:

? Implement save game to device

-save/read in JSON format

? Handle idle/"while you're away" gameplay

-insure that game timeline handles accordingly when the player puts the device away

-timeline should continue progressing even while player not playing, but it should also recognize that the player has put it away and behave appropriately

? Win/Loss

-Show an alert at win state. Win: relationship progress at 100, and game days < 72

-Show an alert at lose state. Lose: game days >= 72

? Optimize/reduce image data by using sliced & tiled sprites

-Replace inefficient sprite images w/ smaller ones [note: these images will be provided to you from our art team]

-Replace instance of non-tiled/-sliced sprites NGUI classes (e.g. UISprite) w/ their tillable/sliceable equivalent (e.g. UITiledSprite)

-Keep the total distribution app bundle under 50 MB

-Current version of game doesn't make use of tiling a slice of an image, and uses a lot more image space than necessary

Requirements:

? Unity & C# experience

? Experience with using texture atlases to reduce the number of draw calls

? iOS build of the Unity project must be under 50 MB so that it can be downloaded w/o WiFi

? Experience w/ the NGUI framework or equivalent experience

? JSON data handling must be done using litJSON C# library

? Must be comfortable with checking in all code to SVN repository
