Database interface project (management panel) Purpose: Get me set up with the basics so I can experiment and see what can be done with the data from my database. First goal is to allow me to learn about my data. Second goal is to teach me about database interaction and/or new programming language designed for this task. This project should be small and basic with sufficiently commented code or instruction so I can make changes. My coding experience: I have limited coding experience. I’ve done simple html/php in DreamWeaver, Arduino, Squirrel (Electric Imp), and some very basic Java app programing in Eclipse. Based on this, I envision this as a html based code that queries an online database that uses a REST API for interaction. The documentation also shows examples in curl (though I haven’t been able to figure out how to implement this yet). Guidance on the architecture (appropriate languages, etc.) for accessing the database is appreciated. Specifications (suggestions welcome): The web control panel should 1. Allow file open for storing data 2. Authenticate my account 3. Get basic data from the database (list of active beacons and their IDs) 4. Allow me to start a loop timer/ allow a one-shot query a. Loop Frequency ~2sec, stored in local variable 5. Query the database (to get beacon signal strengths or other experimental query commands) 6. Store the data locally in an Excel file 7. Display the received data 8. Allow me to stop the loop timer Step 5 could be hard coded into the html or could be a field where I can enter my experimental query.
