We have a lot of chemistry MCQs in an excel file with lot of chemistry formulas and equations. When we tried to import these MCQs into mySQL based database all subscripts used in formulas lost and taken as normal character e.g, H2SO4, CO2, CH3 etc and makes our formulas and elements name nonsense. We need any solution by which mySQL can import subscript and superscript as it is from excel Or any solution by which we can force excel to consider subscript and superscript as inserted symbols because mySQL can pick symbols as it is.
Our exam application made by PHP and mySQL and we need permanent solution for it e.g, method, utility etc. A sample file with chemistry formula with sub and super script is attached.

Hi, I read your project brief. I'd like to help you but I can't because the PHP libraries which are available for reading Excel files have severe limitations. So I'm bidding on this project just to inform you about the limitations in current libraries for reading spreadsheet files.
These libraries don't yet support all the rich text styling features of MS Excel therefore the formatting info stored in the Excel file for subscripts and superscripts is ignored by these libraries hence you're getting only plain text . I presume you may be using the very popular PHPExcel or its latest incarnation PhpSpreadsheet library for this task. They don't fully support all the rich text formatting features yet.
Another option is to use Spout library for reading MS Excel XLSX files but it also don't yet support getting subscripts or superscripts values.
So what I suggest for you is to stop wasting your time finding a solution using these libraries and look for something else.
Hello Sir,
I have understood your issue to capture superscript or subscript so that Formulas would not look like nonsense.
I can develop such import script from CSV to MYSQL for you. So it will not kill the look of superscript and sub script and you can see the real formula at your web page via DB.
Please ping me for further discussion.
Looking forward for your reply.
