.htaccess / regex help with custom cms

I have a custom CMS which I created mostly with php/mysql. I need some help with setting up the htaccess file, regex and possibly some php. The general problem is that I want to change ?id= URLs to people friendly urls: https://www.dottedi.xyz/article_id=123 [login to view URL] I can do this by adding a line like: RewriteRule ^about/?$ [login to view URL] [NC,L] ## AN ALIAS ## However this takes too much administration and I want a simpler regex type method that works for all regular pages. I also have blog entries which need a method so that we don't lose all prior search engine indexing. This is outlined in the full project description and when you visit the demo you will see the problem. If it takes some restructuring of the framework to get this working correctly, I am open to suggestions. Again - visit the full project description page and demo before placing a bid.
