Hi, I created similar plugin already. My plugin had an ability to set an expiration time for the post and had an option to mark the post as "breaking" news. Functionality was created using WP Cron, where can script checks if the post has expired or not. What is missing - is sending e-mail notifications. But it's not a problem to add. I can complete within 5-7 days. Best, Igor
