I had a look at the github link you provided, and that is a pretty nice class to extend and make this functionality available. Now, the important point here might not be the REST interface but the business logic your are exposing through those endpoints. If You have an existing solid Data Model for codeigniter, then it could be easily reusable and deployed on those endpoints, therefore keeping your business running under the same codebase.
