I have an application that uses a MS Access database. What I would like to do is have the database checked for errors during the program start-up routine. That way if errors are detected, the compact/repair routine can be run, or the user can roll back to previous back-up. What I want is a GENERIC VB 6.0 function that can open any Access 2000 database, figure out what tables exist, check them for any sort of errors and/or bad records and return true if errors are found. You can use the standard microsoft tradewind db or any other database you'd like for testing. Please use DAO in your VB function, it's what I use. The function should take the database path as input.

Hello Bidders Okay, I'm getting bids from $9.00 to $3,000+, so obviously I didn't do such a good job explaining what I want. I will try again. First, I'm talking simple here, nothing complex. You are looking for corruption errors ONLY in MS Access, not for data or business rule errors in my records. I'm talking about errors that literally lock up Access if I attempt to open a record (since it is corrupted; this is why I want to flag the user to do a roll-back to a backup copy, rather than losing potentially more data as the day progresses). I want a simple function that checks that tables can be opened and that the records not corrupted (probably with a "movenext" loop, although I am not a database expert and I'm not 100% sure that would pick up a corruption error). Since it is hard to test if your code works, I will tend to favor the bidder who explains why it would work to pick-up corruption/database crash errors. Maybe what I am asking for is not possible; if so, let me know that also. Thanks for taking the time to bid on my project. David
