Legal Research re Customary International Law

Collate articles with bibliography and prepare a briefing note on the formation stage of CIL from a perspective other than the British-American literature. This exercise is a compilation of sources for further review, flagging relevant paragraphs. No new interpretation is required. Successful candidate will be a law student, graduate with a legal degree, or legal research professional who has completed a course on international law. Own access to legal research tools. Fluency in a language other than English. Please include your jurisdiction and language in your bid. More specifically the job is to find significant and leading articles in the language that consider the formation requirements for customary international law. We are looking for frequently cited articles that carry weight. Assume the audience already has a detailed understanding of customary international law formation as understood in the British-American perspective, the purpose of this task is to gather materials to understand how the topic is understood from the perspective of other legal traditions. Deliverables will be: 1) Zip file containing the collection of PDF files of relevant articles and texts (eg textbook chapters) - full text only, file names to be follow the format "Name Year [login to view URL]" where the Name is the first authors last name, Year is the year of publication, and Title is the first 10 words of the article title. Articles should be published after 1900. 2) Word document with a bibliography for the article collection according to the Australian Guide to Legal Citation available here: [login to view URL] 3) Brief explaining why each article is included in the collection - eg what novel or important point it makes - with references directing us to the relevant paragraphs.
