Turn XML into beautiful graphics for printing!

We are a mature UK-based developer, specialists in the public transport domain. We provide services across the UK. Currently we are developing a cloud based Asset Management System and are in need of a team of two developers who can assist us in the development of an independent graphics module that will link into this AMS. While predominately web-based, the project may also require the use of server-side Windows services, console applications and scheduled tasks, so familiarity with the full Microsoft/.NET stack is important. As part of this project you will be required to extract data from XML sources and synchronise with SQL Server databases, so experience with data manipulation and specifically working with XML files is required. The project would involve working in the public transport domain. The main goal of the software is to develop the ability to automatically generate stop specific bus timetables without intervention. It should automatically extract data from native formats such as TransXChange and use it to accurately create timetables using the client supplied templates. This project has been already worked upon and is functioning partially. The developer must be able to understand this existing project and reverse engineer it to find out the missing links. Once it is accomplished, the developers have to then start working on the pending requirements to create the application as specified the business requirements. The developers have to work closely with the UK team and understand all the business rules and assist in developing the business rules to help generate accurate timetables. Day-to-day tasks may include but are not limited to: • Work closely with client to review specifications and ensure adherence to standards • Assist with system design and mock-ups. • Estimate and develop application code based on specifications. • Adhere to best development standards and best practices. • Participate in application database design as requested. • Perform unit testing of modules. • Contribute to developing technical documentation as needed • Assist with the creation of test plans and identification of impacts. • Collaborate with QA to investigate and resolve issues found during testing. • Assist with the resolution of technical/development issues across all environments • Participate in the development of the implementation and transition plans. • Document, communicate and validate technical requirements throughout the system development lifecycle • Participate in project team meetings and work closely with the Client and Development Manager to monitor and identify technical risks and issues.
