iPhone icon redesign for iPhone game

We are looking for a new amazing icon design to be used in the app store.

We have a variety of resources available to be used as reference (3D models, 2D artwork, etc. Check out the site above for graphics etc to get an idea of the style of the game. The icon should show one of the spaceships in the game in a drawn version for example shooting a missile giving it a 3D effect.
Please show some of your previous related work to be considered for this one. Chosen bidder will be offered other gigs in the future as well.
I have attached an example of the direction we were going but got stuck and couldn't find the perfect solution. I have also attached another example of a cool icon with a 3D effect. It should be bright, cool and look good in the small size that is needed for the app store. A Photoshop template will be used which automatically updates all icon sizes.
Let me know what ideas you have and show me what you have done before. Generic applications will be ignored.
