II Northeast Fishery sector Inc is like a co-op for fisherman in a catch accountable fishery. I am looking for a Microsoft Excel/ VBA programmer to assist me in some upcoming changes to the way the sector manages and tracks its catch accountability. here is a link that describes sectors [login to view URL] As a sector manager I am tasked with calculating a vessels total catch which includes their landings + discards and subtracting that from their available total quota. each week I must report this to the National Marine fisheries service. The process which I have used over the past 10 years is changing with the addition of Electronic monitoring to account for discards and the program I have traditionally used can not accommodate this change in the short term. although I will only have a few fishing vessels using the new electronic monitoring I need a way to account for these trips and the amount of quota they have landed. I will need to generate reports based on these landings and i will attach samples of the final report. there are several other files used to generating these files and those will be provided should once i have located someone to take on this project.

I imagine you need to automatcally enter discard data from another file or source into your Excel sheet (this is what I get from your short explanation so please forgive me if this is not correct). My approach would be to upload your data to a MS Access or MySQL database (housed locally or on a web server). I would develop VB code to update fields in the database. You will be provided with a method to select and download/extract data to Excel (since you feel comfortable with this program). The calculations can be done in the spreadsheet or the database. I have over 40 years experience, some of which have been with small federal contracts. I know this will take a bit of back-and-forth on picking the best option to implement so please ignore the hourly bid and consider my fixed bid of $1000.00 due after you create your first report.
