Experienced refrigeration technician or engineer for IoT application development

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced refrigeration technician or hands-on engineer who is seeking a career change and apply his practical refrigeration knowledge to the development of cutting-edge IoT technology. We require the services of a trade-qualified refrigeration technician or engineering graduate with demonstrable qualifications and ideally at least 10 years’ experience in the servicing/trouble-shooting of commercial refrigeration systems, who is computer literate and willing to work in an office environment. The services will be provided online and the candidate will be part of a team of engineers cooperating on this project. Initially the work load is expected to be part-time but is expected to develop to a full time work load quickly, potentially requiring the services of a number of suitable freelancers. Your daily duties will include: • Observe and analyse the performance of refrigeration systems remotely via our web-application. Training will be provided on the web application and on the interpretation of the visible data. Sites will be accessed according to a daily program. • Diagnose and report on any faults or unusual operation via a smartphone-based application. • Assist with training of machine learning protocols by responding to training results. This will require a daily review of suggested diagnoses • Communicate with our refrigeration engineering team (based in Sydney) via Skype/Hangouts and messaging applications as required to discuss any diagnosis as required. • Participate in regular team-meetings via Skype/Hangouts. • Respond to technical support calls from subscribing end-users and servicing contractors. Training will be provided on procedures for managing such calls appropriately. The successful candidate will require the following: • Full trade qualification as refrigeration technician or alternatively degree qualified engineer • 10 years of demonstrable experience (references will be required) in fault-finding, repair and/or maintenance of both small and large commercial refrigeration systems • Fully computer literate and familiar with common office software, internet browsers, e-mail and messaging applications. • Dedicated, hardworking, task driven and detail oriented • Willingness and ability to learn quickly • Superior time management skills and an ability to work to tight time constraints • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Microsoft Office skills – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Office or Apple equivalent • Willingness to take initiative • Motivated and enthusiastic • Excellent spoken and written English Training will be provided in the skills required to adapt to the new environment
