The main objective of this project:
1- Find an optimal policy that controls the power of the RRHs and BBUs in cloud radio access network according to the traffic load in the network (i.e switching them on and off).
a. The RRHs has two states, it could be activated or deactivated
b. The BBUs has three states, it could be activated or deactivated or be idle
Methodology:
1- Interested to do this by using markov decision process as done before in the two reference paper attached to the project named:
a. “Energy Efficiency Benefits of RAN-as-a-Service Concept for a Cloud-Based 5G Mobile Network Infrastructure” in section V to switch on and off RRHs.
b. “Economic Framework for Resource Management in Data Center” switch on and off servers in data centers.
Things to be considered:
1- This project will be mixed with a load balancing algorithm between BBUs and RRHs.
a. An idea about load balancing algorithm is found in paper named “ Quality of Service Aware Dynamic BBU-RRH Mapping based on load prediction using Markov model in C-RAN”
