I am a profesor with more of 10 years of academic experience and in my experience, algorithmic thinking is a process that in young people, gives much better results when using practical age-appropriate tools that they can find atractive. I have personally designed this type of courses where the learning occurs in a fun way while students design video games; they can define an algorithm in order to make a character move or make specific actions and then play the game.
