Standards used for the structural design 4. Yield strength of reinforcing steel and compressive strength of concrete 5. Minimum concrete cover requirements for the different structural members should prepare a separate section in the report that includes the following specific information (for the selected building only): 1. Structural and architectural floor levels 2. Types of foundations 3. General structural support system 4. Roof waterproofing and insulation 5. Wet areas waterproofing 6. Interior finishes for floors, walls, ceiling, and skirting 7. Exterior finishes Prepare partial quantities takeoff for the selected building only to include the following items: 1. Site excavating to bottom of foundation as required in plans. Assume the depth of excavation is at -1.50 meters below natural ground level (see the typical section through foundation excavation shown in the bottom of this page) 2. Site backfilling 3. Concrete for a selected footing, a column, and a slab 4. Formwork for the footing, column, and slab selected in item 3 5. Reinforcing steel for the footing and column selected in item 3 6. Openings Prepare quantities takeoff for the above items using the sample bill of quantities shown in page 4. For details, refer to project’s drawings. It is recommended to use Excel spreadsheet for quantities take-off. For the above items, prepare a detailed cost estimate by estimating unit prices and total prices for these items. Use the sample table shown in page 4 to show unit prices and total prices. To estimate unit prices for items, you may need to visit local contractors, municipalities, or use the latest edition of the United Arab Emirates Construction Price Book. You may also make your own contacts with contractors, vendors, material suppliers, etc., as necessary. For further details, refer to the project’s drawings. Prepare a detailed schedule for the substructure activities of this small project. As a guideline, follow the following steps: 1. Establish a logical relationship among the above activities then construct an AON network (precedence diagram) considering the relationships shown in the table above. 2. Estimate durations of activities bearing in mind the given quantities, crew production rates, and productivity factors. 3. Prepare a schedule using Microsoft Project software, print the following: a. A complete bar chart showing activities names, durations, early start, early finish, late start, late finish, predecessors, total float, and free float. Show the project’s critical path in different pattern b. A network diagram (precedence diagram) showing activities names, durations, early start, early finish, and total float c. What will be the expected duration to finish the substructure of this small project 70% will be distributed based on the following main parts of the report: 1. Introduction and description of the project 2. Description of the used tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, etc.) 3. Work done 4. Comments and Conclusions 5. References (if any) 6. Figures and tables
