Supply Chain Management is an important aspect of business. Companies use supply chain management to ensure that they are competitive and to help improve customer service. In this assignment you will analyse the supply chain for a typical product to identify the relative performance of two organisations’ supply chains and identify how the performance of the supply chain can be improved.
2 Assignment Framework
Choose a product which is purchased from a Retailer; select two different producers/ organisations / brands of this product. Write a report that addresses the aspects detailed below:
Describe the two supply chains for the two producer/brands from the point of the product leaving the Manufacturer/Producer, via the distributors and the retailer, through to the Consumer, identifying the Logistic Processes (including: ordering, distribution, transportation, delivery schedules, picking/packing, retailing) involved. (30 marks)
Discuss the important Customer Service factors in the Supply Chain for this product. (e.g. product range, product condition, product selection, advice, sales statistics, installation service, post-sale service, sales environment, product accessibility (channels) (20 marks)
Compare and contrast (analyse the similarıties/differences) the operation of the two different organisations’ supply chains. Focus on the extent to which the two different organisations’ processes support the customer service factors for this product. (20 marks)
Identify and describe the modifications to the supply chain(s) which would improve its performance. State which participant(s) in the supply chain would be affected by, and how they would gain benefit from, your suggested improvements. (20 marks)
(20) marks are allocated to the quality of the report, including: (reporting structure, ease of accessibility, and appropriate referencing).
Write your answer in report format (maximum 3000 words).
