This should be a simple max script:
It should consist of two parts.
Make a little GUI with two buttons: 1. "Reset pivot" and 2. "Render lightmap"
* Part 1) - When selecting a random model and hitting "Reset pivot" button it should automatically do the following:
1. Affect pivot only - move it to the center of the model and then move it to ground / z=0)
2. Move the model to 0,0,0 (now the model should stand in the middle of the grid with pivot in 0,0,0)
3. Apply a "reset Xform"
4. Affect pivot only - Rotate 90 degrees in X-direction so the green arrow points upwards (Y-up)
* Part 2) - When selecting a model and hitting "Render lightmap" button it should automatically do the following:
1. Move the model to 0,0,0.
2. Create a plane that is 10x10meters and place it in 0,0,0.
3. Apply a default max material to both objects (standard grey material).
4. Create a skylight (Lights->standard->skylight) and set skycolor to white.
5. Go to rendersettings and set the following values:
- Rays/sample = 400
- Filter size = 4
- Adaptive undersampling (Off)
6. make the "render to texture" dialog appear (shortcut = '0')
Should work with 3ds max 2011
- Thats it
