Create graphs in Word2010 using mail merge fields and VBA

I have a Word template that acquirers data from a datafile using mailmerge fields.
Now I want this document to automatically (when doc is opened) generate a graph on basis of this data using VBA.
Graph can be a simple line chart but code must include variables to set the formatting of the graph.
The purpose of this project is to provide a proof of concept and to provide a basis for further development.
