CentOS cluster/optimized VPS setup for web/mariadb/dns/memcache servers

My goal:

1) Large Wordpress MU / Buddypress niche market site. This will be a buddypress community for a niche market through BP with messaging, forums, Cometchat, and eventually free wordpress sites with premium upgrade plugins.

2) Shared hosting for the niche market ($5-10/month, built to scale up to additional servers if the hosting side grows).

** I will handle administration through cPanel/WHM and the Wordpress side. I just need to low-level CentOS setup.

I have one 8GB RAM 4vCPU CentOS setup with cPanel/WHM/WHMxtras - I installed minimal CentOS and cPanel reseller installed the panels.

** I'm open to expert opinion on changing any of this (except the server) - I'm running ProxMox and the first server is a KVM (not template). If you believe Xen or something else would be better for this project, please specify that in your bid.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR:

1 CentOS Web Server (LAMP with cPanel/WHM likely - since that's how my current server is setup)

1 CentOS Database Server (I want to use MariaDB for the dedicated database server - I know it's not supported officially by cPanel, but there are numerous discussions of simply drop-in replacement. If you think something else would be better, please explain since bench performance indicates MariaDB scales better)

1 CentOS DNS server (Not sure if necessary, but figured whatever I can offload from the cPanel web server would allow for the best growth and optimization.

CentOS memcached servers (to fill out the rest of the memory with isolated memcache servers that can offload processing power for the main cluster)

BACKGROUND

I'm a Windows network consultant as a day job. As a hobby and on the side, however, I've worked with web design since 1997 and for the projects I'm doing Linux is the best solution. But since Im not a linux administrator I'd like to hire one to help me setup the initial configuration of a series of virtual servers for an optimized, easily extensible setup for performance and growth if this project DOES get a lot of traffic.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

I have a VPS through a managed server that's been running for 3 years - it only has 2GB Ram, but is nearly flawless in performance with the few sites I've been running. I'm looking for this new setup to be as fast or faster, and maintain that performance even under large amounts of traffic to the WPMU/Buddypress site and large number of shared hosted small sites.

I'd like to get assistance with moving the sites off that old server (DirectAdmin) to this new server cluster, as well as carrying over or creating new nameservers and basic migration tasks. I can do that as a separate bid, or you can include it in your quote here just please specify one way or another.

I do want to account for security setup (CFS or whatever firewall, we should be able to figure out all the ports required initially that shouldn't require ongoing maintenace - and/or set it up in cPanel/WHM and I can manage it there.

EXPECTATIONS:

There's very little revenue on this currently. It's mostly a hobby. I'm willing to pay as well as possible for quality work, but I do have a small budget initially.

I am looking for the BEST solution, however, not just the cheapest. If it's outside my budget, we may discuss breaking the project into multiple projects over time so I can afford it.

In addition, whichever quote I select I would like to lock in for future maintenance, upgrades, etc. with a private project for you in the future. And if revenue does start coming in, I will be as generous as possible with tips, etc.

Final note: I would like to be able to get some benchmark testing and examples of the performance of these servers before the project is closed. I know there's a lot of variables, but if you can't qualify your work, please explain in your quote.
