I need someone to design and create a system using Arduino that automatically controls a 12V pressure sensitive linear actuator that extends the arm and closes a small chicken coop door. This system must be pressure sensitive and it needs to monitor any object that the door bumps up against like a chicken. So, if the door is closing and does bump against a chicken it will automatically stop the door and open back up. The system must make 3 attempts at closing. Each attempt at closing must be harder than the last. After the third time if the door still did not close a "Door Jammed" alert message will be sent to an iPhone. The sensitivity of the door's object detection circuit must be adjustable so it can be set to push through debris that may be in the path of the door. We need a photo resistor that connects to the Arduino so it can monitor the sun to detect the sunrise and opens the coop's door letting the chickens out of the coop and detects when the sunsets to close the door. The linear actuator needs to be controlled either by an iPhone or by a manual button. The light level that will trigger a close command needs to be adjustable to accommodate the chicken's schedule from the iPhone. I need to be able to control and set the open and close times on my iPhone. I need the iPhone to be able to communicate with the Arduino system to send updates to the iPhone when there is a door jam or every time the coop door opens or closes and at what specific time. I will need the controls to also monitor 2 different temperatures which are inside and outside of the coop. I will also need an object sensor that opens the door from the inside and outside of the coop when the door is closed. So, in the winter during cold days the sensor detects a chicken that wants to return inside the coop will open the door and let the chicken inside only during the day and not at night.

An Arduino-controlled chicken coop? That sounds like the chicken coop of the future to me! I had spent some time thinking about building something similar over the last couple of years, I just never got the chickens. I have, however, built other systems similar to what you're describing, using Arduinos and often Raspberry Pis. Your project says design AND create. I would only be able to design it for you, unless you wanted me to ship you actual hardware, or unless you're in the Seattle area in which case I could actually help you set up the hardware. I'll lay out the milestones as steps that I would think is the right way to tackle this project, based on your description of what you want to do, and we can revise them in the future if needed.
