Convert Visual Foxpro to python flask

Dear there That seems your LMS really good. It has run for a long time. I think I could work on that. Python maybe a good choice, but Im not sure about using Flask in your project ( this is an python microframework for web) If your LMS is quite simple, why we don't go with PHP / MySQL? Hi, I would suggest you to go for C# ASP.Net with MSSQL conversion. in that case you can later go for scale up for system with Windows Azure Cloud hosting... which provide you long hosting support with scalability,reliability and availability. Regards, Narendra

Also, I would recommend to make this a fixed price project as you will get better value, but this is entirely up to you. Hello Sir. I am expert Python developer with over 12 years experience. I have solid knowledge in Flask, it is my favourite framework. I work fast, provide clean and well documented code and can start working right now. As of your questions: 1. Python is great language and it is advisable (though there might be other languages to consider, depends on what exactly the system should do) 2. Flask is very lightweight, fast and scalable web framework. It is very flexible and indeed very advised. There is a chance that Django framework will suit your project more but I can suggest it only to very large scale applications. So again - depends on specifications, mostly Flask is better to use. 3. MySQL is a NO. It have lots of long standing issues which are not going to be fixed anytime soon. Depends on the project specifications I can advise to use postgresql or NoSQL database. I would suggest as follows: Web: PHP/MySQL, the most trusted open source combination, would do best to the conversion. Standalone: If you use it personally (ie not selling it to public or use it only within one of your business circle), why don't you just shift the DB from native VFP to MySQL? This can be achieved with minimal tweaking of existing software (I assume it is currently in VFP 9.0). Alternatively, if the data is not going to be huge, you can even use Microsoft SQL Server Express edition (free edition), which gives up-to 10GB per DB. Even though the specifications are not given, in both scenarios, you can attach many new features to the application through native methods and/or integration of 3rd party plug-ins. 1. My Experience Summary: 15+ years in Foxpro 8+ years in VFP, MSSQL, 3+ years in VB 2+ years in .NET, C#, HTML5, PHP, MySql 2. My Development Approach: a. Understanding your requirement: - Discussions on Skype/emails. - Functional/Technical documentation, if you have. b. Development process: - preferably at my end in my system. - addressing in between modifications. - sharing of sample data, if available. c. Greetings! We have extensive experience in similar projects (including, interestingly enough, converting a Foxpro application into Python). I could see going with Flask+MySQL, which is a pretty good framework for such things (although the choice of database is fairly arbitrary). Of course FoxPro is self contained while the choice of Flask and MySQL obviously needs hosting and is not generally run on a local computer. In any case, these are things we have a lot of experience with and we could discuss many options.

I am an expert Software Architect and lots of experience in VFP, Python, PHP and Visual Studio. If I were you I would stay within Microsoft products as there are many advantages to reuse whatever you have, assuming you are happy with the system's processes, constraints, and rules.
