Active Directory System State backup & restore library

Project requirements: • Should be based on AlphaVSS .NET wrapper for VSS API ([login to view URL]) • Backup and restore System State in all supported Windows server operating systems (Server 2008R2 to server 2012R2) • Multi-language support for files/system components • Project should have capability to backup VSS writers that are marked as BootableSystemState or SystemService • Ability to include additional VSS writers by providing parameters to the API • Support for junction points/hard-links (backup the junction point metadata + restore junction points without duplicating the folders) • Ability to exclude certain files and file types from the default system state set ( eg. "*.exe " should exclude the .exe file types from the backup). • Backup and restore Active Directory (NTDS VSS Writer) in server operating systems (Server 2008R2 to server 2012R2) with all languages supported by Microsoft. • Should work on Physical and VM machines. • Need projects as DLL files, which can be invoked by applications running in .NET 4.0 and 4.5. Entire VS solution with source code should be provided. • Should be running multi-threaded and should return operation progress and status. • Project (Backup and Restore) should write a detailed log in .log file. • Small test application with UI to test the project has to be provided Comments: • Restoration of "System State" can be accomplished by using the restore mode of VSS with the "writer metadata xml documents" in conjunction with MoveFileEx API to replace files in reboot time. The writer metadata doc also contains the restore method and based on it you should be able to figure out whether reboot is required to update the file. • Small POC Based on AlphaVSS could be provided • Junction points/hard-links: need to identify each "hard link" in the backup phase and what are the links for it (in the winsxs/SYSVOL directories, etc…). When restoring we need to recreate the hard link appropriately. Regarding junction points, again we need to identify the junction in the backup phase and recreate it in the restore phase. Also should take into account that the hard links might already exist • Backup & Restore Active Directory: Our code will reboot into DSRM (Domain Services Restore Mode) and your code will be doing SystemState restore in DSRM mode. • Optional: • Additional fees could be negotiated for Backup and Restore Capability in incremental and (Delta) backup.
