The Political Relationship Between War and Design. You are to choose two design movements between 1910 and 1950 to compare and contrast — in the context of the impact of how war effects design. Select two key designers from each movement and analyse one work/design from each. The works/designs chosen must be from the same design field (stream). These could be graphic, typographic, product, interior, etc, — but they must all be from the same design field. These designers/movements must not be the same as your chosen topic for your oral presentation. The essay must provide an overview and analysis of the movements and key designers from each, a brief overview of your chosen designers and finally an analysis of the relationship between war and the movement/designers/works. Compare the designs (works) through critical analysis, taking into consideration the formal, personal and cultural framework — with an emphasis on the cultural framework. You must include images for each chosen work, with captions (author, year, title, materials) and referencing. If you have chosen product/industrial/architecture, you should be including multiple views of the work.
