I have an application where it always require me to manually open VLC Media Player, press ctrl+R or select 'Convert/Save' under 'Media'; change the Capture Device to Desktop and set the frame rate to a certain value; and then select the Destination File. I usually save it in the desktop using a custom name. So, the goal is to have all this embedded in my application, but what I need now is a proof-of-concept software written in Python that can accomplish this task without having to open VLC Media Player.

Hi, automatic start of VLC with your intended behavior is fine to achieve, but what do you mean by automatic end? Stop after given amount of time? If this is the case, it should be feasible without much trouble. Feel free to contact me if you have any question.
