I need a script that can automatically extract contact names and phone numbers from a directory site in Australia. Specifically, I want a program that will visit the site, extract the name, address, and phone emails and update my MySQL database with the details. I would prefer that the program be written in PHP and the database will be MySQL. But, I am open to suggestions if you want to choose another language.

I have a yearlong experience in webpage scrapping through PHP and Python script. As you want your task to be done in PHP, Which I can do easily, but I will personally prefer Python over PHP has python have easy syntax, better and rich regex for scrapping with some great html parsing libraries like Beautiful Soup and some dedicated scrapping libraries like Scrapy. I can do this task in less than 1 day. in few hours as I am experienced in database ( I have done my summer internship in databases and SQL).

Hi, I guess that, with PHP, you will also need a database consultation page? Also, the data source (the australian website) should be analysed first to determined feasability (like, for instance, if 100% of their DB is downloaded or just a part)

If the data is to be collected through web scraping, a simple Java jar could be run which does this. There are several libraries available to make this a quick process to develop. Could be configurable to fit future needs depending upon request.
