Concatenate

System: php 5.2.x and Smarty

Task: concatenate two string variables and build a new variable name.

Example:

The Smarty tpl knows about $text_variable containing "prefix" and $[url removed, login to view] containing "700".

{$text_variable} == "prefix"

{$[url removed, login to view]} == "700"

The Smarty tpl does not know about $prefix700 containing "NOT EMPTY".

The template must test for existing data in $prefix700 but must concatenate two strings to execute the test.

Smarty must build (or call an included php file to build) variable name $prefix700 and test it for data.

i.e.

Concatenate the contents of $text_variable and $[url removed, login to view] into $prefix700

The tpl will then execute the following:

{if $prefix700 ne ""} {$prefix700} {else} EMPTY {/if}

I need Smarty/php code that builds $prefix700 so that the test may be executed from the tpl.
