The aim of this project is to have a web-based GUI that can visually display and modify the contents of a text-based configuration file, here referred to as \emph{[login to view URL]}, which is used to control a UNIX server process.
<p>
The user-case will be a user connecting with a standard browser, uploading a [login to view URL] file. The GUI should then visually display the contents of the [login to view URL] file, let the user modify it, and then save the modified file in the same format as the uploaded [login to view URL] file.
<p>
The possible contents and syntax of the [login to view URL] file will change over time. It is therefore important to limit hardcoded information in the GUI source code. The GUI should instead be based on a separate GUI configuration file, from which the GUI can automatically obtain information about the possible contents in [login to view URL] files.
<p>
For this purpose, an XML config file, here referred to as the [login to view URL] file, will exist that lists necessary information about the different kind of attributes that can be present in a [login to view URL] file. The GUI will use this information to parse and correctly display the contents of the [login to view URL] file. If the syntax of the [login to view URL] file changes, it should ideally only be necessary to make changes to the [login to view URL] file for the GUI to be able to handle the new syntax.
<p>
A sample configuration file is attached.
A prototype is also available.
<p>
Please see the attached archive, which includes a
design specification that will hopefully answer most
questions.
<p>
We also expect that minor changes and additions will be handled without supplementary payment required, so
please provision for about 10% extra work due do that, relative to current design spec.
