I require a single function which will display the shell menu (ie the menu displayed when right clicking any object in an Explorer view) for any "real" item I pass to it, be it drive, folder or file. Virtuals such as My Computer etc are not required.
For example:
Result = ShowShellMenu("C:\AnyFolder")
If possible, I would prefer to have the selected menu returned via the function, preferably by caption, but this is **not** required. I would also like the ability to define the location where the menu will be displayed.
This must be a pure Visual Basic solution, no third-party libraries can be used, apart from the standard Microsoft shell DLL's supplied with Windows. Due to the nature of the function, it is probable that a type library containing the appropriate definitions is required, in which case I would need the .IDL source files so that the definitions can be merged with our existing type libraries.
Also optional, but highlightly prefered would be the ability to **append** new items to the menu, and return if these are clicked. **Note:** I do not mean adding new verbs etc to a file extension, but rather adding custom items for that particular instance of a menu, for adding application specific extensions.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) If the code uses a type library for shell declarations, the .IDL file must be included so they can be merged with our existing type libraries. 3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
## Platform
Any variant of Windows 98 and above, including NT4. (NT4, 98, Me, 2000, XP)
