AAMC is an internet club for playing the Axis and Allies board game.? It is a free membership club and members? themselves volunteer to maintain the site [url removed, login to view]
We are looking for a programmer? to improve the site by adding a few goodies to what is already there.? The forum thread where we are discussing the issue is: <[url removed, login to view]>
I will find out all the info about db, language and others i didnt include here as soon as possible and update these requirements
Basically, we need to update the profiles of the players in the db.? This will include some programming in order to separate and improve the information being displayed at the moment in each of the player's profiles.? It will also include adding the pictures of the medals and ranks each player has attained.? The pictures do not need to be designed as we can get them or copy them from the internet.? There is a graphic example in our message board at <[url removed, login to view]>
This is a possiblility, but any improvements or suggestions are welcome.
Currently, our player information is displayed in a sloppy manner, but the good news is that most of the information is already within our main db.
The second part is the automation of the tournaments we play within the site.? Currently we play tournaments through the message board, updating them manually, but it is time consuming as 10 tournaments or more can be running at any given time.? Please note that pbem (play by email) for our game takes a long time for each game as we can play 1 turn a day or even 2 or 3 turns a week and a game is comprised of 40 or more turns.? Our tournaments are set like a tennis tournament, where single elimination is the norm and it goes on until only 1 player remains (the champion).? So, to automate the tournaments, a code needs to be written where a tournament master enters the players that wish to participate in the tournament, then the tournament seeds get calculated (or it can be seeded randomly) and then the code sends emails to the players letting them know who they are matchs against.? As a game is finished, it is necessary to have a new box or entry at the game's end so that players can let the code know the game being closed (finished) was part of a tournament, exactly which tournament, and then the code updates the tournament thread for that particular result, and when the next match is up, it sends a new email to players letting them know it is time to start.? Finally, the code will keep a record of time elapsed and let players know when they are playing below the time requirements of each tournament and send them a warning email (with copy to the touranment master).? Only the touranement master has access to update or edit tournaments.
I would be glad to provide more information and guide throught the upgrading of the site process.? ? I also am making a word document with all the information details of the upgrade.
