I worked as a Business Intelligence consultant for many years and provided services for many companies such as Toyota, QVC, Avis/Budget, Home Depot and the US Navy to name a few. A key objective for my projects was to make a wide variety of data easily accessible and understandable to non-tech personal. This included numerous dashboards with a wide range of functionality. I built every aspect of these dashbaords from the SQL to quickly retrieve the data all the way down to developing the graphs and tables that the end user sees. I utilized highcharts in my most recent project (for the US Navy) to develop a series of dashboards displaying various performance metrics in line, bar and pie charts. The charts provided the ability to drill down, up and through the data as well as to dig into the data by generating tables that display the individual records that go into the charts. I have also utilized jQuery datatables to interactively display dashboard data to users in a tabular format and give them the ability to search and sort the data as needed. Some of the tools I have used for dashboarding the the past include highcharts and flot (for javascript chart creation), Pentaho, Hyperion Performance Suite, JasperReports (for complete reporting suites), and DataTables for interactive HTML tables.
