Adding Email Verification to existing script

Plain old simple php code, NOT wordpress or any open source code. Coded in php using MYSQL as the database This should be quick and easier for an experience php/MySQL programmer. Should only need to work with 2 files. (Included a pic and files for you convenience) I have an existing script that needs some extra tweaks. 1.) At the moment anyone registering is automatically added to the database. I need to be able to verify the email of the registrar prior to allowing them access. An email sent to them with a link within it for them to click to confirm. --- Once the registrar clicks the submit button to register, a message to check their inbox should appear. --- When they check their email and click the link, it should take them to the login page (or confirmation page with link to login page) and state a thank you for confirming and allows the new member to login. --- If a person doesn't click the link to verify, any stored information regarding that person would need to be removed so not to clutter up the database. 2.) I have a notifications area that allows member to receive posts made to users specific selections. Either email notifications or cell phone notifications. The cell phone notifications act similar to the email notifications except it uses the members cell phone number along with carrier as the email address. ---- At the moment a member can add any cell phone number along with the carrier even if its not their own cell phone which acts like an email address. example: 1112223333 at carrier dot com ---- Similar to the email verification when registering, this one just sends a link to click to verify to the cell phone email address. Should be able to use the same code/principle as the email verification when registering. ---- Once the person has verified, they should see a confirmation notice and see their listing in the Text message notification listings.
