Well, This is my sixth bid request at Rentacoders. I have three servers, two still with Linux Red Hat (they will be converted to Fedora-2 in two months), and one already with Fedora Core 2, all hosted at a Data-Center company at Sao Paulo, Brazil. On these 3 servers I have Domains and Mailboxes as well. One of the most time-consuming tasks for me is to be entering them via SSH to perform tasks like:
. Create / Exclude Domains
. Create / Exclude Subdomains
. Create / Exclude Domains Aliases
. Create / Exclude Mailboxes
. Create / Exclude Mailboxes Aliases
. Eventualy restart some services like Sendmail, Xinetd, Http, Named, MailScanner, SpamAssassin, etc.
. Save copies of specificic system files
Currently, I perform all of these tasks, at the command line, through a series of simple Bash Scripts I created by myself. They are not graphic nor friendly.
So, all I need now is to have a CGI Script (preferably written in Perl) that I could call from the Browser (MIE), working as root, and performing all I need.
By the way: before anyone suggest me this, I don't want to use ready-made programs like Webmin nor any of the known Panels, because they are all too expensive and / or do much more than I really need.
So, this work shall be developed easily, because I know exactly which functions I want and need. The problem is that I don't have the necessary skilty in Perl to do this job through the web. Basically the Script will deal with the following system files:
[url removed, login to view]
[url removed, login to view]
passwd, shadow, gshadow, group
dns definition files (those [url removed, login to view] file under /var/named)
I can even give those Bash scripts I said I construct to help me with these tasks. All I want is to be doing exactly that by the web, with security and control.
Well, if this is a feasible project, then I will give more details, describing in details each function and what I need it to do. Thanks.
