Hi there
a relatively simple project. I have an html form for a website (which I can generate dynamically in php). I am working on the section of my website that allows legending pictures? from a photo album. Let's say I have a list of people in a database, with a unique id (integer), a name, a group name (I will end up with several dozen of people, it's more practical to sort them by group: friends, family, etc), and some keywork (like the initials, only populated for some people, not all). Sample:
ID, Name, Group, Keyword
1, Charles, Family, CM
2, Henry, Friends, HF
3, James, Friends,
4, Henry, Family,
5, Jack Cooke, Work, JC
I can generate the list in a php script, so I am fine with working on a hardcoded list.
The idea is that the user will have the picture on one side, and should be able to add/remove people he sees on the picture,
either by selecting from a drop down menu
either by entering the initial, the associated name should show up if the initials are found, and then add them to the list of people
either by adding someone new that is not in the list.
The list of selected people should appear, with the ability to remove some of them from the list (all that without submiting the form).
I can handle the data management on the server (php/sql). The only thing I can't do myself is javascript, and in order to make it userfriendly, I would like to not having to submit the form each time the user adds or removes people. The number of people appearing on a picture can be infinite (or say very large - 50 max).
Let me know if it inspires any of you.
Charles
## Deliverables
One little detail, the javascript but be able at the end to send data through? the form in a format that I can process in php.
Other thing, with a keyword lookup, it could be interesting to do a full text lookup, with a list of suggestions (don't know how practical it is)
Please let me know if anything is unclear or if you need further details.
