A simple JSP forum

**I need two simple but different versions of this work.

For this work you are asked to design a generic on-line forum application. Ideally the application should be configurable so it can be used for any purpose. In addition some customisation should be possible, for example, an administrator of the forum should be able to add a custom logo at the top and customise the name of the forum to suit the forum topic[[1]][1]

There are three main users of the forum; the administrator, a member of the forum, and a non-member who can browse the forum only.

The *administrator* can delete/edit messages and remove whole threads[[2]][2]; they can also remove user accounts.

The *member* can add new messages (respond to existing messages) and create new message threads.

The *non-member* can browse messages but not create any. A non-member can register to be a member by giving details of name, nickname, and email address.

The forum should ideally use a database to hold the messages. The database should only hold the last 20 messages for each thread with the oldest messages being removed if this limit is exceeded. Any thread whose last message is more than two weeks old should be deleted.

1. Add a new message thread to the discussion forum

2. Reply to an existing message thread

You should implement the part of the designed system which allows an administrator to:

1. Delete any message

2. Edit any message

## Deliverables

1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.

2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):

a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.

A report containing

· the code of your implementation

· a user manual, describing how to use the system (please include screen shots)

· the original class diagrams from your design in Coursework 1

· the original sequence/activity diagrams from Coursework 1

· the class diagrams modelling the implementation

· important sequence/activity diagrams of the implementation

## Platform

J2EE using the MVC framework.

Will need to be uploaded to tomcat 5, on a Sun Unix server.

It wil be viewed through netscape.
