RSS ("Really Simply Syndication") is increasingly becoming used to feed headlines and news stories from news web sites (like **[login to view URL]**) or "blogs" (Web Logs). The task for the project is to design a system to read an RSS "feed" across a network, and display information from it on a hardware display device such as an LED or LCD display.
Your system should be able to read an RSS feed in RSS 2.0 format, and extract at least the "title" and "description" fields of the items in the RSS file.
The hardware device should display (at least) the "title" of the first item in the RSS file on the hardware display device. If the title is too long to fit, the characters should "shift" along.
- Your system should display the "title" and "description" (at least) on the computer screen, for confirmation.
- Two RSS feeds will be provided to you: a Numeric feed (title and description composed of the digits 0-9 only) and a Text feed (title and description may be letters, digits or punctuation).
- A simple solution may display the Numeric feed only, one digit at a time.
- More marks will be awarded for displaying both the Numeric and Text feeds, and for displaying several letters at once.
- The software will allow the user to specify the URL where to obtain the RSS feed (possibly including a local file on the computer itself), and optionally the speed of display "shifting".
