I have some hardware which comunicates through rs 232 port. I want a user be able to control the hardware remotely through the web. I have the rs232 code. I need to show the location of the device in the webpage. The located should be updated every sec I guess by using a server timer. The location can be displayed by using a label. It should be a failrly easy task for an asp.net coder who has done lot of server side programming. I will be providing u some code as well. Basically you need to create a web page which will have a server based timer. The timer event will send a comand to the device to get its position and display the coordinates on the web page. I have a anstand alone application which does exactly the same but takes a lot of memory. I cannot refresh the client page every sec because i have other controls on the web page as well. AJAX might [login to view URL] in short I need some client side code which will read a var ont he server and display the updated value to the client. The rs232 code is all ready and working.
