Messages can be sent as instant messages if the agent is logged in, or as offline messages (emails) To achieve this you need to have a server with a database where login details and the messages will be stored. The server should have a webservice that allows the app to connect to and use the database service. Webservice is a kind of webpage but used only by applications and there is no any fancy looking pages, just formated data for applicaion processing.
