Seems a quite a small problem to me, most of the times its simply build settings mis-configured or a small code aimed towards only the iPhones which would not make the app run on the ipad.
Sometimes, its that the project is created as a universal device project but you only developed the code for iphone, in which case it needs to be properly configured to remove native support for iPad screen and let the iPhone version run on it on x2 zoom mode.
