Comic Artist wanted for 28-minute UK superhero fantasy drama...

We are currently in pre-production for Supersonic, a 28 minute short drama directed by Samuel Dore and produced by Maverick Litchfield-Kelly and Neath Films. It will be shown on the BSL Zone website, the Community Channel and Film4, as well as being submitted to international film festivals. We are planning to shoot in August. Samuel’s previous short Chasing Cotton Clouds can be viewed in full here -[login to view URL] Supersonic is an uplifting Deaf fantasy drama about the estranged relationship between 18-year old Isaac and his father Robert who has reappeared ten years after he walked out on him and his wife Jackie as well as the startling revelation that superheroes are real. Supersonic has the ability to travel faster than the speed of sound despite being Deaf, he wears practical clothes as we want him to be based in a real world, that of suburban South London particularly Brixton, he is also a Black superhero. We are looking for comic artists who are able to create dynamic art for the film that evokes fully the DC / Marvel universe, we want to be able to incorporate Supersonic into that particular world as too often films have specially-created comic art that does not feel part of it - I have included some examples of the kind of art we want to use. Equally, if you know if other artwork from contemporary comics which you think fits the bill, please make suggestions. We need a comic artist to help with the following; - Supersonic’s logo I have done some quick sketches of Supersonic’s logo which will go on the back of his leather jacket, it needs to be refined further and will be used as an ident for the film’s publicity materials. - Opening Title Sequence We need to create five high resolution panels of Supersonic engaging in the following; 1) Saving a mother and a child from a burning building 2) Knocking out bank robbers as they flee a bank 3) Jumping from a bridge onto the roof of a car 4) Battling a mad scientist in an underwater lair 5) TBC The art needs to be of a high resolution so that we can rotoscope etc and it will also be used for some mock up comics to be used as props and as well as part of publicity material for the film. A good reference is the opening titles sequence for the Milla Jovovich Sci-Fi film Ultraviolet. - Storyboarding We want to frame the shots in Supersonic as if we were creating comic panels so we want to incorporate comic panels as well as to help plan VFX special effect sequences and design framing and shots to give Supersonic a cinematic feel.
