I need a small program that will run on any windows system.
The purpose is to allow a user to customise a cdRoms links by filling out a form.
My latest research says that Adobe Director will create a shockwave file that can do what I need. See [login to view URL]
I think it could also be done in Zinc?
All the program has to do is interact with a text file called access.txt.
The txt file has variables that will be read by flash swf files to display the users details - that is set up already.
I need a form with various fields like name, email, ph#, etc.
It has to load the [login to view URL] file and then use this txt file to fill the fields with text that it finds inside the specified txt file.
For instance - fill field 1 with the text that comes between - &CafePress=<a href="[login to view URL] -AND- %26tid=cdrom" target="_blank">
Then fill field 2 with the text that comes between &Poster=<a href="[login to view URL] -AND- "_blank">
Okay thats the reading part.
Then the user changes whatever fields they want and presses a submit button at the bottom that submits all fields.
When they press submit the whole [login to view URL] has to be rewritten replacing the new input into the same place that it was read from.
Mmm maybe thats not clear enough...
I want to end up with the same text file as we started with but just the bits of text that were read into the fields updated.
So the first line of text would now read &CafePress=<a href="[login to view URL] NEWTEXTHERE %26tid=cdrom" target="_blank">
And so on.
If a field was not changed by the user then it would be rewritten exactly as it was because they would have left the text in that field to be rewritten.
The sofware needs to be flexible enough so that I can change and add fields, or change the text that surrounds the bit that is read into a field, etc.
In other words I can change &CafePress=<a href="[login to view URL]
And easilly tell the program where to find the exact text for that field still.
Some of the fields will have to be able to fit whole paragraphs of text. Most will only be a couple of words or digits.
Originally I thought to do the whole project as a java or xml or php - where the input form could be a simple webpage. If you think that is an easier/cheaper solution than making a custom software thats fine. Let me know how you think this can be best done.
I want the user to have a simple easy experience of filling out a form of some sort and having the text file customised with their details. And of course the formating of the text files code has to remain intact.
Please let me know if you understand what I want and which approach you would recommend.
I will have more work coming and will of course offer it to you if I have a good experience with this project.
Thanks
