I have been working on this project for sometime but due to time pressure and other commitments, I couldn't complete it. I am an experienced programmer myself with more than 11 years of experience in the IT Industry. But currently, I am looking for a helping hand who can complete the rest of the project for me. I shall also be involved in many of the programming jobs with him/her but as I mentioned that I cannot give my full time into this.
So, the project is about a simple story site that I am building. Its based on Spring Framework for those who have worked with it already ( however, if you do not know it, I will guide you through it provided you have good knowledge of basic java and j2ee concepts). Also, this is a Google App Engine project ( so for those who do not have any idea of what it is, its the cloud PaaS offering from Google and is a very robust and feature rich platform - I will be glad to teach/guide if the person is interested).
There are few open items that I need to close:
1. Sign in using MSN Live, MySpace, Gmail - OAuth 2.0 / OpenID..Facebook and Twitter integration has already been completed.
2. Paging - JSP tags were written by me...need some polishing.
3. Correct entry of characters in textarea - there is a small bug when accepting a form entry with special characters. I have used XSS filter and it just cleans the good text sometimes. Need to fix it together.
4. Writing an algo for page ranking - formula will be given ... a back-end job in app engine must be created which does the ranking operation on a daily basis.
5. Backend job to clean childless entries ( there is a thing with App Engine - the DB is Map Based - BigTables..so I use minimum transactions...to avoid contention...so sometimes some child entries might not be created or may be headless)
6. Create a profile page of users with some information from backend datastore using a given template - design and html are there..
7. Remove a small jquery bug in a form page
8. Cleanup code where necessary
9. Minor fix / refactoring here and there.
I shall provide the complete set of Eclipse projects - 3 in all, where the chosen developer need develop their code. Every evening I expect the developer to share with me the changes he/she made ( raw/complete) to track on the progress. I will also be available online in Skype daily for 1-2 hours till the project is over to help the chosen programmer.
The design of the website has been done by a great friend of my..HTML is also ready with major work complete. You just have to help me fix the remaining blocks. I do not want to spend too much in this project as its a hobby job...I would be glad to help newbies in this site to build a strong portfolio for themselves...and experienced coders who are eager to learn new technology like App Engine can gain a lot too...
So, let the game begin!!! :)
