If you are looking to have just simple small ecommerce site (I mean products' amount won't grow to something like thousands), then it can be nicely achieved with Wordpress or Joomla + store plugins. That would be easier to manage. Also there are tons of nice templates to start with. In general the info about what you need is clear to us, the only question is about Gift Cards and how do you want to manage them? Are these gift cards for discounts or are these cards added to bags when user wants to make a gift? Also do you need any particular payment system integration?
