Consider a farmer with 100 pigs and a farm tractor. Suggest a design of the plant and
include original diagram/s of the main components, describing their function in detail
for the generation of biogas from pig waste to power the farm tractor. Discuss the
feasibility of doing this. In your calculations, you are required to consider both the
energy content of gas and the energy used in compressing the gas to a usable volume,
and compare these with the energy required to run the tractor. Briefly comment on
what other benefits (if any) might be gained by installing a digester. State your
assumptions clearly.
