Color picker application for Windows (win32)

Your job is to develop a Win32 application for Color Picker.

It must be pure Win32 without MFC, it must work on all recent Windows versions without any runtime binaries. It must compile in Visual C++ 2007

The color picker is a single-window application, which looks exactly like as you can see on screenshot.

When the app is in foreground (active), clicking with mouse anywhere on the screen outside of the color picker application will recognize the pixel under cursor where the user clicked, and it will display informations about that pixel (color in Hex, red green blue, and it will update the color palette, and all the input boxes. User can click any input box and press ctrl+c to copy its contents. Note that when the app is in foreground, clicking outside of

the window must not lose focus, it must not cause any click events to surrounding windows or desktop.

When the app is in background (inactive), it does nothing, and user can continue using other programs.

The app rememners serial number entered through menu. When user clicks Enter Serial menu entry, a modal dialog is displayed where user enters serial (showing the remembered serial as default value, if any). The serial number is then stored in windows registry.

When the app starts, it must call a hardcoded URL (get request), like

[login to view URL]{serial}

with the actual serial number at the end of the URL. If it receives response "ok" then it continues normally. But if it receives different response than ok, it displays the Enter Serial modal dialog right after start, and checks the verify URL again after user enters the serial. In other words, it doesn't let the app work at all if the serial is not verified by server.

The color picker app has a menu, with two entries: Enter serial, and Exit.

The modal dialog has three buttons, OK, Cancel, and Get serial - the last will open an URL in default browser, which will be provided later.
