Build a C++ or C# console application to uncompress video from a proprietary compressed format.

We have collection of camera systems on platforms that record video to a hard drive. We have a desktop GUI interface to view and download the footage online and offline. Online viewing has mobile data limitations (and speed). Online viewing is also very time consuming and requires a certain level of knowledge that a lot of our users don't have - lots of clicking and selecting. There is no wifi option yet to access the video footage. We have access to an API to acquire live and stored footage programatically from the hard drive on the platform while it is online. Again this has mobile data cost implications. We want to be able to archive all footage from the hard drives from all the platforms. Each hard drive can store a few months worth of video footage. It is not feasible/realistic to do this over the mobile data network. We are willing to swap out the hard drives from the platforms on a periodical basis and physically return them to our office. There we can plug them into a rack and read and uncompress the contents. Further separate processing - not part of this scope - will chop up the footage and make it available as required and relevant for user queries. The job that I want you to do is to focus on the extraction of the files from the hard drive. It would work something like this... Scan the contents of the hard drive. Only extract those files which are not already extracted. For each candidate file unzip and save the contents to the file system. The program would have to recognise some kind of directory structure and protocol. I'm not sure what that is yet. I'd need to get something working and see from there. The format of the file system on the hard drive is proprietary. When I plug in the hard drive into my USB here I cannot see any files in my file explorer. But I do know that they contain compressed files. At least that is what get read when I use the desktop GUI application. The supplied DLL can read the disk format. The methods in the DLL will be referenced in the C++ application. The application that you will deliver will be a C++ or C# console application. First, I want you to review some C++ application code and assess whether you can use that code to complete this task. This C++ code was supplied to us by the vendor on an as-is basis to help us with archiving the contents of the hard drives but they are not in a position to modify it any further. I don't expect this assessment should take more than a few hours effort, perhaps a half-day. If after assessing it, you think you can do something useful with the C++ application code then you will proceed to develop the console app to extract the disk contents. You will need good C++ and/or C# skills and be able to easily work with and manipulate video streams. If you have the right skills, I can upload the source code for you to have a look at.
