Dear contractor,
I'm looking for a coder, who can daemonize this server application:
It's an open source server for Web Mapping Service (WMS) for the map rendering engine "Mapnik".
License of the application is BSD, your code should be also be BSD or even PD.
It should be possible to use the daemon this way (I'm open to your ideas):
start : ./paleoserver [login to view URL] --daemon start
stop : ./paleoserver [login to view URL] --daemon stop
restart: ./paleoserver [login to view URL] --daemon restart
status : ./paleoserver [login to view URL] --daemon stop
Please notice that there might also other switches like these:
./paleoserver 0.0.0.0 8000 2 . /usr/local/lib/mapnik [login to view URL] --daemon stop
You need Boost, Mapnik and several other libraries installed for compilation in Linux.
Please check this website (installing Mapnik): [login to view URL]
As far as I know, the best solution for daemonizing a C++ application is to use fork().
It might also important to create a PID file, but we can discuss this later.
I'm just a C++ beginner that's why I need to outsource this job.
Best regards,
Lars-Daniel
